It comes as Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia’s president, denied reports Belgrade was increasing the number of troops near the Kosovo border
Some 600 British soldiers will be deployed in northern Kosovo amid concern over violence and the build-up of Serbian military in the region, Nato has confirmed.
It comes as Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia’s president, denied reports Belgrade was increasing the number of troops near the Kosovo border, complaining of a “campaign of lies” against his country following a deadly shootout that has fueled tensions between the two countries.
Associated Press reporters travelling in the border region on Sunday said they saw several Serbian army transport vehicles driving away toward central Serbia, a sign that the military might be scaling down its presence in the region.
The United Sates had urged Belgrade to withdraw its troops after Kosovo’s government said it was monitoring the movements of the Serbian military from “three different directions”.
