An assailant reportedly confronted Paul, 82, at the couple's San Francisco home on Thursday night and demanded to see his wife, and after a struggle attacked Paul with a hammer. 'Mr Pelosi was admitted to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital where he underwent successful surgery to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands,' stated Nancy's spokesman Drew Hammill. 'His doctors expect a full recovery.' The assailant, identified by authorities as David Depape, 42, shouted, 'Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?' Responding police officers found Paul, a venture capitalist, and Depape struggling over a hammer. Paul eventually let go and Depape began hitting him with it. Cops then tackled Depape to the ground. Capitol Police said special agents from its California field office 'quickly arrived on scene'. The agency is assisting San Francisco police and the FBI in the investigation.
