Nancy Pelosi’s husband alleged attacker was on ‘suicide mission’

The man who attacked the husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi informed police that he was on a ‘suicide mission’ and had plans to target other political leaders, a news report has claimed. The accused, David DePape was on the lookout for Mrs Pelosi when he attacked her husband Paul, 82, with a hammer in the early hours of last Friday.Sky News reported that as per the documents presented in the court documents, DePape had told San Francisco police officers: ‘I’m sick of the insane f****** level of lies coming out of Washington DC.’I came here to have a little chat with his wife.’I didn’t really want to hurt him, but you know this was a suicide mission.’I’m not going to stand here and do nothing, even if it cost me my life.’ Nancy Pelosi’s husband alleged attacker was on ‘suicide mission’ and had ‘other targets’ (Image: Getty Images)According to the court filing, he also told emergency workers that he had other targets, including a local professor, several prominent state and federal politicians, and members of their families.However, none of these targets were named.DePape was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco County Superior Court, where he faced several state charges related to the attack on Paul Pelosi, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary, false imprisonment and threatening the life of or serious bodily harm to a public official.His lawyer entered a not guilty plea on his behalf before a judge ordered him to be held without bail until his next appearance on Friday.READ MORE: Footwear guides for boys and girls’ shoes labelled ‘offensive’The court filing said that DePape had smashed his shoulder through a glass window at the Pelosi home, confronting a sleeping Mr Pelosi.DePape allegedly used a hammer to break into the House speaker’s San Francisco home early Friday. Upstairs, he found her 82-year-old husband, Paul, who was sleeping. ‘Are you Paul Pelosi?’DePape allegedly asked, according to the state filing, as he stood over him holding a large hammer in his right hand and ‘several white plastic zip ties’ in his left hand. ‘Where’s Nancy?
