He said: "I was shocked when I saw the initial picture." The neighbors, terrified of Sky sitting six feet above their heads, contacted their landlord Percy Smith. Smith then installed wood on top of the fence with hundreds of sharp nails - a move which has angered Gauntt. He said: "I think of medieval times. This is something that is something that is fairly barbaric to me. "God forbid she jumped up there and got her paw stuck, and my children come home and find their dog stuck on the fence, impaled." But landlord Smith has defended his decision, citing Sky walking along the fence was a "threatening position". Smith said his tenants have dogs and a new baby on the way, which is why he installed the menacing spikes.
