‘She has to live with it for the rest of her life.’
While women traditionally take their fiancé’s name at the wedding altar, they are not legally required to do so. But one man started an argument with his wife-to-be after she shared how she’ll be keeping her surname when they become man and wife.
Annoyed, the man has taken to Reddit to share how enraged this decision has made him, claiming she’s being “dumb”. The 31-year-old said: “I am recently engaged to my fiancée, 28, and the topic of name changing came up. I am in no way demanding that she take my last name and am fine with her keeping her own.
“However, in talking about it, she said that she would want to take her spouse’s last name except not mine because it would rhyme and she thinks it’s embarrassing. The names themselves aren’t silly sounding but would be along the lines of a ‘Hailey Bailey’ as opposed to a ‘Dini Fettuccine’.”
