A heartbroken mum is wondering if she was too harsh calling her daughter ‘ridiculous’ because she wants her dad to walk her down the aisle at her wedding, but then leave immediately afterwards
Weddings can bring so much happiness, joining two families together and sharing the special day for the bride and groom. However, it can be tricky when there are family rifts, causing awkwardness and tension on the day. But what about when your spouse doesn’t get along with your family?
A heartbroken mother has shared that her daughter doesn’t want any of her family at her wedding due to her fiancé not liking her family. However, she still wants her dad to walk her down the aisle – but leave immediately after to avoid further conflict. The mum took to Reddit to explain that her 25-year-old daughter hadn’t even invited any of her siblings either. She told her daughter it was unfair, but is now wondering whether she is in the wrong for asking why.
In a detailed post the mum shared to Reddit, claiming she’s unsure why her daughter’s partner dislikes them all, she explained: “It’s going to be a large wedding, so I’m surprised we were not invited. I wasn’t surprised when she didn’t invite her siblings, because their relationship is practically non-existent, however, she didn’t invite either me or my husband.
“Her rule is that she just wants my husband, her father to walk her down the aisle, and then he leaves. When we asked why, it was because her fiancé doesn’t like us, and she doesn’t want to make him uncomfortable. She made it clear she wants us there, not her fiancé.”
