A teen was left distraught when she was uninvited to her own dads wedding after they decided it was a child-free day – despite turning 18 just two days after the big event
Child-free weddings are always a cause for friction, especially when you have family members with young children. But one teen was left seething after she was snubbed from her own dad’s child-free wedding – despite turning 18 two days after the big day.
The excited 17-year-old had already bought her dress and shoes, to be then told just a few weeks before that she wouldn’t be allowed to attend as they had a strict over-18s policy, and that even the groom’s daughter wasn’t exempt from it. As she shared her situation on social media, she wondered whether she was in the wrong for publicly posting about it.
Posting her ordeal on Reddit, she detailed: “I was always pretty close to my dad. Closer to my mum but I often visited my dad about three or four times a week. A few years ago he started dating ‘Anna’. Anna and I always got along when my dad proposed I was happy Anna seemed like she would be a great stepmom.
“Well a few weeks before the wedding after I had bought everything dress, shoes, and my dad and Anna said they needed to ‘talk to me’ Anna and my dad decided to have a child-free wedding which I get especially for young kids. Well turns out child-free means no one under 18. On the day of the wedding, I was still going to be 17 so, therefore, I’m not allowed to be at the wedding because Anna wants to stay true to the child-free rule even for the daughter of the groom and her about-to-be stepdaughter.”
