Murderer Alex Murdaugh pushing for a re-trial after lawyers claim ‘discovered evidence’

The attorneys for ex-lawyer Alex Murdaugh say they have new ‘discovered evidence’. They are expected to push for a new trial for Murdaugh, convicted of murdering his wife and son

Lawyers for killer Alex Murdaugh are expected to push for a new trial based on what they say is new evidence.

Disgraced legal expert Murdaugh was found guilty in March this year of killing his wife Maggie and their son Paul in 2021. He has always maintained his innocence despite being slapped with two life sentences.

Lawyers Jim Griffin and Dick Harpootlian say what they call “discovered evidence” will be revealed in a press conference later this week, which is expected to be on the grounds of the South Carolina State House close to the Court of Appeals.

Currently, Murdaugh is expected to plead guilty in federal court on September 21 to stealing $8million from his own clients. He also faces around 100 charges in state court and he is charged with stealing money from clients with life-changing injuries and also helping a drug gang launder money.
