Murder probe launched as woman found dead in home

Police continue to investigate a murder (Image: Grimsby Live)A murder investigation is underway after a 50-year-old woman was found dead in a house in a rural village.Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder and officers remain at the scene in Messingham, Lincolnshire, as they continue to investigate.Humberside Police were called to the house following reports of a concern for safety of a woman at about 12.40am on Sunday, November 6.Police described the death as an “isolated incident between individuals known to each other” and insisted there is “no wider risk to members of the public.”A spokesman for the constabulary said: “Sadly, the woman died in the early hours of the morning, and we have now opened a murder investigation. The victim’s family are currently being supported by specially trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.” The community has been reassured there is “no wider risk,” Grimsby Live reports.The suspect remains in custody.Detective Chief Inspector Simon Vickers, of Humberside Police, said: “We understand that a tragic incident of this nature will cause shock to the local community, but I would like to reassure people that this is an isolated incident between individuals known to each other with no wider risk to members of the public. Those living in the area can expect to see a number of officers over the coming days whilst a scene guard remains in place, and we continue with our investigation.”I would encourage anyone with information, or anyone with concerns, to please come and speak to us.
