A mum has issued an urgent warning to other parents after letting her 10-year-old daughter get acrylic nails. Her daughter ended up getting an infection and ‘crying in pain’
A mum who let her 10-year-old daughter get long acrylic nails soon regretted her decision after her nail snapped off, leaving her “crying in pain”. Whitney Ainscough, whose TikTok channel @itsmebadmom has racked up over 185k followers, recently took to the platform to warn other parents about making the same mistake.
In a recent video, she said: “Don’t let your 10-year-old daughter have acrylic long nails, because this is what happens. And now she can’t get it off and she’s crying in pain. Ripped her nail off.” In the video, Whitney’s daughter’s hand could be seen with two acrylic nails left on her hand – but one of them had become loose and taken some of her normal nail with it.
Explaining how it happened in an updated video, Whitney revealed her daughter’s fingernail had become trapped in a door – and it had gone on to become infected. Luckily, she shared they had managed to get the nails off, but the daughter had to be on antibiotics. According to Whitney, her daughter has been “crying a lot” and said she is “never having them again”.
In the comment section other parents were sharing their own experiences of letting their children get acrylic nails, only to end up regretting it. One person shared: “My 12-year-old daughter [begged] me. I [gave] in and she caught the nail and it ripped her whole nail off underneath! Never again”.
