 A mum-of-three suffered horrendous injuries and almost died after she was trampled by cow with a newborn calf. Farmer Debbie Duffus had been trying to help the calf when the cow got angry and attacked her. The 54-year-old was left with multiple crush injuries, internal bleeding and a broken leg but somehow managed to drag herself back to the farmhouse. Ten minutes later she was found lying on the kitchen floor by her husband Andy, 57, who quickly called an ambulance. An air ambulance soon arrived at the property near Tomintoul, Moray, in Scotland and got her to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary within 20 minutes. By road it would have taken around 90 minutes. Debbie believes the speed at which she was transported by the helicopter, operated by Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), saved her life. The mum-of-three underwent surgery and spent time in ICU and HDU but much to everyone's surprise, she made such a fast recovery she was allowed home in nine days. 'It's just one of those things. She tossed me about a few times but I was conscious the whole time. 'I managed to crawl out of the field on my knees because she'd crushed the bottom of my leg and broke it.' Debbie says she knew she had to get back to the house and went into survival mode.
