What exactly is going on remains a mystery, but we do now know one thing for certain: Sony has had to delay more than one first party exclusive. At the moment, the only confirmed first party games from Sony are this October's Spider-Man 2, the undated Wolverine game, and a trio of live service titles (Fairgame$, Helldivers 2, and Concord) that were briefly highlighted at the PlayStation Showcase. Not only is there no clue what other single-player games Sony is working on but it's just as much of a mystery as to why they won't talk about them, especially in light of Xbox's well received summer showcase. Rather than being anything to do with Activision Blizzard, there may be a more prosaic explanation for Sony's current attitude: they're not announcing anything new because nothing is ready. An easily missed line in their recent financial results outlines their plans for the current financial year, ending March 2024, in which they list one of the negatives, that could impact their bottom line, as 'changes in the launch dates of a portion of first party titles.'
