Amid the cost of living crisis, air fryers sales are booming across the UK to help tackle the soaring costs of energy bills. People are turning to the appliance over their hobs or ovens as they often cost less to run, plus the handy gadget also cooks meals in a healthier way.

However, one common bugbear with an air fryer is how difficult they are to clean – particularly if you don’t wash with each use, as grease and grime can build up. Thankfully though, social media star Sophie Hinchliffe – who posts as cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch – has shared a 16p solution to tackle the problem.

Taking to her Instagram – where she boasts more than 4.6 million followers sharing her immaculate home and cost-efficient cleaning tips – the influencer shared the cheap hack with her fans.

The 16p tip is extremely simple and more importantly, it means you don’t have to wash your device every time you use it.
