Express.co.uk spoke exclusively to home appliance brand Russell Hobbs about the most cost-effective appliance to use for cooking meals. Air fryers are extremely popular at the moment, with several brands admitting to selling out. But that appliance is not the most ‘cost-effective’ or versatile according to Russell Hobbs, instead, the experts suggest using a slow cooker this winter.Unlike air fryers, slow cookers have been around for many decades, in fact, inventor Irving Nachumsohn received a patent for the appliance in 1940. Russell Hobbs spoke about slow cookers and their uses: ‘Slow cookers are great for gently cooking meals over a longer period of time. ‘They are also great for getting the best out of cheaper cuts of meat that would otherwise be tough and chewy with other methods of cooking. ‘It’s a great convenience option, as well as being an energy efficient option, as you can load it up with minimal prep or pre-cooking in the morning and come home to a delicious homecooked meal after work. Joints of meat like pork can be turned into pulled pork to be loaded onto jackets or added to taco shells.
