 A Kombat Kast livestream has shared new gameplay footage for Mortal Kombat 1 and a new trailer debuting two returning playable fighters. Earlier this week, there was speculation amongst Mortal Kombat fans that NetherRealm was teasing two more additions to Mortal Kombat 1's roster, in the shape of Rain and Reptile. While the latter remains MIA, the former has been confirmed with a new trailer, alongside another returning face: Smoke. The trailer also shows off three more Kameo fighters – Cyrax, Sektor, and Frost – although presumably they'll only be available as assists rather than fully-fledged playable characters. As expected, Smoke makes use of… smoke in his playstyle, although he now comes armed with ninja smoke bombs and some kind of dagger to slash his opponent with. Rain, meanwhile, wields a staff that he uses for his hydrokinesis, throwing watery projectiles and creating portals to teleport around the stage. The new trailer debuted during the first Kombat Kast livestream for Mortal Kombat 1, which included new glimpses at its story mode, focusing on the various ninja characters like Sub-Zero and Scorpion. There isn't anything that can be tied to that two-year-old leak that resurfaced this week. Although Sub-Zero does talk about ruling EarthRealm rather than defending it, perhaps hinting he'll become more of a villain, resulting in a fight between him and his brother Scorpion. You can check out the trailer below but, as always, we should warn you that it gets very gory. Even the new super moves are shockingly violent, to the point where they could be mistaken for Fatalities. While the rest of the stream didn't provide any raw gameplay for the newly announced characters, it did go a bit more in-depth on Scorpion and Johnny Cage, the latter of whom lacks his green energy blasts from previous games, to be a bit more grounded.
