 NetherRealm has announced a bevy of new and returning fighters for Mortal Kombat 1, including the leaked Homelander as DLC. Given the leaks, NetherRealm's big DLC reveal for Mortal Kombat 1 wasn't quite as surprising as it could've been. Regardless, there is now official confirmation that the game's first batch of post-launch fighters will feature three superhero crossover characters. The three in question are, as was originally claimed, Omni-Man from Invincible, DC's Peacemaker, and Homelander from The Boys. Fans of Invincible will be pleased to know that J.K. Simmons, his voice actor from the cartoon, has been brought in to reprise the role of Omni-Man for Mortal Kombat 1. However, the same hasn't been confirmed for Peacemaker or Homelander. At the very least, NetherRealm is using the likenesses of their TV actors – John Cena and Antony Starr, respectively – but it hasn't said yet if the actors will be voicing them or if NetherRealm will use soundalikes. While you'd think NetherRealm would've saved these superhero characters for the next Injustice, their more violent nature makes them a better fit for Mortal Kombat. They wouldn't want Omni-Man ripping out Superman's heart or something. The first Kombat Pack does have some actual Mortal Kombat characters too; namely series veterans Quan Chi and Ermac, as well as Takeda Takahashi from Mortal Kombat X. Takeda's presence is interesting as, in the previous continuity, he was the son of blind swordsman Kenshi, who returns as part of Mortal Kombat 1's roster. However, since the timeline has been reset it remains to be seen if this is still the case or if Takeda will have a new role. This isn't the only update for the game either, as a second trailer has teased more of the story mode and confirmed an additional three characters: Baraka, Tanya, and Li Mei.
