Morrisons confirmed it would purchase the failing convenience store chain in May this year, as part of a £190million rescue deal – but it has now unveiled plans to shut 132 stores
Morrisons has announced plans to shut 132 “loss-making” McColl’s stores today as it warned 1,300 jobs are at risk of being axed.
The supermarket confirmed it would purchase the failing convenience store chain in May this year, as part of a £190million rescue deal.
It comes after McColl’s crashed into administration, threatening 16,000 jobs and 1,100 stores from closure.
Morrisons hasn’t confirmed which sites are now being earmarked for closure, or when they would potentially shut.
