Transgender people are expected to settle in Scotland in greater numbers after MSPs voted in favour of reforming the Gender Recognition Act.
Jane Fae, a campaigner and director of TransActual, said Scotland was now on a list of “preferred destinations” for trans people who want to move, along with Portugal, Canada and New Zealand.
“The open-minded approach of the Scottish government is in sharp contrast to the viciousness of the UK government rhetoric and actions in respect of the trans community,” she said.
“Trans people living in England are now in abject fear of what may be coming next from the most transphobic administration they have ever known, and it shows . . . in the numbers planning to leave the UK – or England.”
