Suella Braverman quit as home secretary shortly after she breached government security rules, seemingly to avoid being removed by then-PM Liz Truss. Now Williamson appears to have done the same. It is the third time in three-and-a-half years that he has been forced out from a position in government. First sacked by Theresa May for allegedly leaking information about bids to build a 5G network in Britain; and sacked again by Boris Johnson for his terrible performance as education secretary. This seems to be less about proving his innocence and more trying to sink the ship after fleeing. Matthew, Birmingham ■ Given what the inexplicably ennobled Sir Gavin Williamson allegedly told the senior civil servant, we can only presume he has no idea of what constitutes decent behaviour in the workplace (or anywhere else, for that matter) and that he ought to have no place in the halls of government.
