Chelsea are poised to smash the British transfer record after seeing off interest from Liverpool
Chelsea are set to smash the British transfer record for the second time this year after reaching an agreement with Brighton for the £115 million transfer of Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo is now set to sign an eight-year contract, with the option of a further year, at Stamford Bridge after completing the formalities of his move in the coming hours.
The agreement over the final fee marks an end to a transfer saga that spectacularly burst into life last week, when Liverpool suddenly lodged a record £111 million bid for the Ecuador international.
Liverpool made their offer without any indication that Caicedo wanted to join them, however, and the player’s insistence on moving to Chelsea kept the door open for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
