Moeen Ali insists best is yet to come from England in T20 World Cup

Pitches have not allowed England to play in their usual style so they have had to win ‘ugly’

England are hoping their best is yet to come following a spluttering run to a third successive T20 World Cup semi-final without hitting their straps.

And it is a more than fair assessment as it is the verdict from the team themselves and not just a pithy soundbite from a TV pundit. Moeen Ali has been a key man for all three tournaments and he knows that this has been by far the hardest semi-final for England to get into.

The win over New Zealand was perhaps their most complete outing so far, but the vice captain is hoping the team will take a step up from the Sri Lanka game to take down India on Thursday.

“The Sri Lanka win was very nervy,” admitted Moeen. “We had a great start but so did they and they collapsed so….it should have been better.
