Missed opportunity to glean new insights on an uninspiring night for Scotland

Pretty much a non-event and, for long spells, a non-performance. For Scotland, this was a night best forgotten – not that there was a lot to remember in the first place, bar John McGinn’s typically brilliant driving run and shot which sparked them into life just after the hour.

With nothing riding on the outcome, the only thing to be gained was knowledge about individual players, and yet none of those about whom we have more to discover at this level was even selected to start.

Calvin Ramsay, Lewis Ferguson and Ryan Porteous were all named among the substitutes, while Steve Clarke also elected not to give either Liam Kelly or Robby McCrorie a shot at contesting Craig Gordon’s crown.
