With all the excitement surrounding the upcoming Frasier reboot on Paramount Plus , fans have been revisiting the original series and coming up with theories about storylines that played out. One such storyline that is getting a look back involves the character of Martin Crane (portrayed by the late John Mahoney). On Reddit, user Darato shared a theory regarding the fact that the character had a bad leg. ‘It was said [on] the show a couple of times that Martin’s leg could have gotten better by now if he kept up with his exercises and ate better,’ they wrote. ‘Martin would have wanted the almost full use of his legs back to do more, but didn’t [do the exercises].’ From there, Darato shared their thoughts on why that was so. (Image: Getty) ‘I think he did this so he could stay with Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) because every flashback we saw beforehand and when Frasier went to see him he was severely depressed,’ they wrote. ‘As time went on and on he had a better relationship with Frasier and Niles (David Hyde Pierce), and he still wanted to keep Daphne (Jane Leeves) around for Niles,’ they concluded. Others also chimed in about the theory, with another user sharing that there was other evidence to support that point. ‘…Martin was Frasier’s reason for staying in Seattle. He came back after his marriage failed and his life was at a bit of a low,’ user Mergan1989 said. ‘He starts a new job and it isn’t going well, then he goes to see his father whom he’s ever had a good relationship with.’ A Frasier reboot will be missing some key characters-including Niles, Daphne and Martin. He feels compelled to try and help his father out and opens his apartment to Martin, Eddy and Daphne in an effort to give himself a purpose,’ they added. ‘Over the years he continues his own life and has various successes and failures, probably thinking he’d done his part in getting his dad back on his feet. It’s only when Marty is moving away that Frasier sees he’s no longer needed in Seattle,’ they concluded. However, another added that they weren’t sure it was a theory, as they felt it was a no-brainer part of the story. ‘I thought all of this was rather obvious, and not so much a theory,’ Phixional wrote.
