The Democrats have turned to Barack Obama to help preserve their razor-thin majority in the Congress via a whistle-stop tour of four key swing states.Â
The former US President, who left office in 2017, travels to Georgia on Friday, and then moves on to Wisconsin, Nevada and Pennsylvania, – all key battlegrounds in the November 8 election.
All four states are home to competitive Senate races where Republican candidates appear to be gaining momentum.
Only one one additional seat is needed to secure control of that chamber, with Georgia and Nevada looming as prime targets.
With Joe Biden’s approval among voters hovering at 39 per cent, according to the latest polls, many Democrats are relying on Obama’s charisma to swing votes in their favour.Â
