Even though the colder months are rolling in, this doesn’t mean you have to give up going for a walk in the park. Health expert Michael Mosley has shared the best weather to go for a stroll in
As the days are getting shorter and the weather more miserable, people will soon be mourning their evening walks. Thankfully, they don’t actually have to give them up, as health expert Michael Mosley has revealed the best weather to go for a stroll in – and it isn’t the sunshine.
Spending time in nature has been found to help with mental health problems such as anxiety and depression and now it looks like the rain is good for us too. According to Michael, who is the brains behind the popular 5:2 and Fast 800 diet, there’s no better time to go for a walk than a rainy day.
This is because it has a variety of benefits for our health and well-being. One of the reasons this is the case is because rain improves air quality. Michael recently launched the new series of his podcast, Just One Thing, where topics like this are covered. In each episode, he takes a close look at something simple that could improve your mental and physical health in ‘surprising ways’.
“A recent study in Japan found that as the rain falls, the droplets attract and wash away tens of thousands of polluting particles from the air. These particles, which are generated by traffic, are very harmful because they are small enough to penetrate deep into our lungs when we inhale them,” he wrote for the Daily Mail.
