Speaking to Mirror, a forecaster with the service quashed talk the mercury will threaten 30C in the UK anytime soon, let alone the dangerous levels parts of Greece, Italy and Spain are seeing. It was reported the sweltering conditions of June - when the mercury hit 32.2C in Chertsey, Surrey - were soon to return, in part because of the "Cerberus" heatwave spreading across the continent. This, though, has no impact on the UK's weather currently, Met Office meteorologist Rachel Ayres told The Mirror. She said: "We're not expecting these heatwave conditions across the UK. In the UK, we will actually see some pretty unsettled weather with low pressure crossing north-eastwards across the UK, bringing some pretty strong winds, unseasonably strong for July and some strong rain too." She added temperatures here will, in fact, remain below average for the next week or two, until they rise by the end of the month. However, they won't reach levels forecasters associate with a colloquial heatwave, and sunshine will be mixed with bouts of rain. Ms Ayres continued: "Looking through the rest of July in mid-August, it's similar conditions with precipitation mostly of a showery nature, maybe some longer spells of rain towards the end of July and in some of August. It looks like temperatures will return closer to normal, although the chance of any very warm or hot conditions looks to be lower than average across the UK at this point. "It's still quite a way out until the end of July and into August especially. We'll be keeping temperatures around average, a touch above maybe, but not the kind of heatwave or very warm or hot cond){kind=link}
