Met Office issues 25-hour lightning storm warnings with Brits braced for deluge

Britain is braced for storm this week as the Met Office issues two yellow weather warnings, one over a 25-hour period, including heavy showers and thunderstorms.  Northern Ireland is set to be struck today, while other parts of the UK are predicted to be hit by thunderstorms tomorrow, with possible floods. The warning comes as searing temperatures are set to hit six regions across England this week as the Met Office issues another yellow weather warning.  Temperatures are forecast to hit highs of 28C on Friday and 30C on Saturday, with the alert in place from midday on Friday until 9am on Sunday. The Met Office forecast shows sunny spells getting longer in large parts of the UK from Friday after an ongoing spell of rains and cooler conditions. ‘Temperatures will be on the rise from Friday, with a plume of continental air allowing temperatures to reach, and perhaps locally exceed, 30C in parts of England on Friday and Saturday,’ Met Office deputy chief meteorologist, Dan Harris, said.
