The Met Office has issued two yellow warnings for thunderstorms from 7am until 6pm tomorrow, covering the whole of Wales and the South West, bringing possible flooding and power cuts
Brits are bracing for heavy downpours over the weekend, as the September heatwave comes to an abrupt end.
Two yellow warnings for thunderstorms are in place from 7am until 6pm tomorrow, covering the whole of Wales, the South West and part of the West Midlands. The Met Office says there is a chance of some flooding and disruption to travel due to lightning strikes, hail and strong winds.
It adds: “There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.” Earlier, the weather service said that national severe weather alerts are possible, as humid air moves northwards, bringing the risk of storms.
Today, the country will be split, with southern areas getting a dry start, while further north it will be cloudy. There is a threat of some showers forming in the South and West with the chance of thunder, but as the day goes on, it should be dry across the country.
