This June, Lionel Messi will turn 36. And it appears the PSG star is eyeing a comfortable swansong in the MLS, with Inter Miami reportedly in advanced talks over a potential summer move. While he’s earned that right, however, it will embolden the claims of those who believe he’s always stuck to his comfort zone – unlike fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo…According to The Athletic, Messi is edging closer to a blockbuster move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami side.Talks will be on hold until after the World Cup in Qatar but, over in America, excitement is building. Soon enough, they believe the veteran will be strutting his stuff under Phil Neville – with Beckham as his big boss behind the scenes. For Barcelona and PSG, that would represent a blow.PSG themselves have been hoping to tie Messi down to a new contract, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season. And Barcelona have been pining for a return, even if Xavi is said to be sceptical over whether or not he can accommodate his talisman and Robert Lewandowski in the same side.Want the latest football news? Whoever wants him must be playing in Europe’s top five leagues and have genuine aspirations of winning silverware, the best of the lot.So that means Messi moving to the MLS would be a damp affair.Yes, he’s got nothing left to prove. Nothing in the slightest, after arguably scaling greater heights than any other player before. But while Ronaldo was willing to spend his twilight years at the top, Messi seems like he’d be content to spend them in the comfort zone of America instead. And that, in short, speaks volumes about the pair and their respective mindsets.Speaking earlier in his career, meanwhile, Messi admitted he’s always had a desire to play in America – but was coy on whether it would ever end up happening.’I always had the desire of being able to enjoy and have the experience of living in the United States,’ he said. ‘Of living what that league (MLS) is; what life is like there.’I would like (to play in the United States), later; if it happens or not, I don’t know.’
