Legendary singer Melba Moore receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fames comes after she had her daughter taken away from her and was left homeless following a bitter divorce.
It was a particularly significant moment for Melba Moore, who finally received a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week at 77.
Speaking of the honour on her Instagram page, the icon wrote: “As I look back over my life Harlem / Newark NJ , I am proud Receiving a Hollywood Star made me reflect on the goodness of God. August 10th, 2023 Hollywood & Vine St. Love Melba Forever Moore @hwdwalkoffame #leanonjesus.”
The honour has undoubtedly resulted from her hard work, determination and perseverance through some of the darkest times of her life.
While Melba, born Beatrice Melba Smith, began her acclaimed award-winning career in the music industry in the late sixties, a bitter divorce from record manager and business promoter Charles Huggins thirty years earlier left her homeless with $600 and a welfare check to her name. Before that, she had been worth close to $20 million dollars.
