Megyn Kelly provided a rundown on the Republican nomination race after Donald Trump officially announced his intention to run in for the US White House in 2024. Mr Trump’s rival for the Republican Party is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Ms Kelly told Dan Wooton on GB News: “People need to like, take a breath, okay, because the people who are over Trump are salivating at over DeSantis and you know, ‘Trump’s done’ ‘he’s the worst, ‘he’s politically toxic to everybody, everything he touches turns to you know what.'”And they want him to just step aside I get it but you know, it’s a presidential primary and he doesn’t have to.”That’s not the way our system works. His voters get a say his he gets a run and if you don’t like it, too bad, that’s not the way politics works.”‘It’s there for the good of the country’ You know what, he doesn’t see the good of the country, resting with him not running. I think he decided not to run and then his career totally imploded, and he was never able to run again. He couldn’t even sell 14 books.”So if I were DeSantis I’d be accurately calculating maybe it’s now or never, and the stars are with me and the wind is at my back and I might as well give it a go.”She added: “It’s going to get ugly. That’s true. Trump is not going to go easy on DeSantisIt comes as form vice-president Mike Pence turned on Donald Trump as he suggested Republican voters will have a chance at selecting a “better” candidate to represent them in the 2024 electionsMr Pence told ABC’s David Muir: “David, I think that’s up to the American people. But I think we’ll have better choices in the future.”People in this country actually get along pretty well once you get out of politics, and I think they want to see their national leaders start to reflect that same compassion and generosity of spirit. I think so in the days ahead, I think there will be better choices.”DON’T MISS:Russia gives Iran seized British weapons [INSIGHT]Sean Penn hands over Oscar to Zelensky as Ukraine war rages on [ANALYSIS]UK to send fighter jets and Chinooks to Russia’s doorstep [VIDEO] US Presidents: A History (Image: EXPRESS)He added: “And for me and my family, we will be reflecting about what our role is in that.If he is considering running for US president in 2024, Mr Pence replied: “We are giving a consideration in our house, prayerful consideration.”Mr Muir followed up with: “Do you believe you can beat Donald Trump?”The former Vice President said: “Well, that would be for others to say, and to be for us to decide whether or not we want to test that.”
