Mbappe rejects contract offer with ‘guaranteed clause’ as transfer saga goes on

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly rejected a contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain , despite the deal including a clause that would see him leave the club next summer regardless. The Ligue 1 outfit are desperate for the forward to either extend his stay at the Parc des Princes or leave – though neither appears to be a plausible option at this stage. Mbappe was put in the show window earlier this summer after it was revealed that he did not intend on activating the one-year option in his current deal that would extend his stay at the club. Thus, making it clear that he will become a free agent next summer. PSG were irritated by the news and offered Mbappe the ultimatum of activating the clause or moving on. However, the said clause has now expired and a move away is the only plausible next step in the eyes of the club. According to Cadena SER , PSG did offer Mbappe the chance to sign a new contract with the club until 2025 but would guarantee that he leaves in 2024 – therefore ensuring that they would receive a fee for his services. The offer was promptly turned down though as the player looks to ensure that he is in control of his future. But Mbappe is not keen to make the move to the Middle East and did not entertain the prospect of making the move. There is a feeling within PSG that the France international has a ‘secret agreement’ to join long-term admirers Real Madrid next summer, which would explain his reluctance to leave the club and jeopardise his dream move.
