Max Verstappen set a new record as he won the Mexican Grand Prix (Image: Sky Sports F1)Max Verstappen has said he will try to win more Grand Prix after he broke the Formula One record for the most wins in a single season. The victory in Mexico was the 14th event the Dutchman has won this year, making him the outright holder of the accolade he previously shared with Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. Verstappen led the race from lights out to chequered flag after taking pole position yesterday, taking first place from Lewis Hamilton by over 15 seconds. The win helped the Dutchman take his 14th win of the season, setting the record for most wins within a single Formula One season surpassing the precedent he currently held with Schumacher and Vettel.Speaking after the race Verstappen insisted he would go for more wins as he looks to extend his record. “It’s been an incredible year so far,” he said when asked about his record. “We are definitely enjoying it and we’ll try to go for more.” It had looked like Hamilton could challenge for the win during the early stages of the Grand Prix as Mercedes plumped for a different tyre strategy for Red Bull, however the hard tyre did not react as the team had hoped allowing the 25-year-old to manage his mediums to come home under little pressure.
