Max Kilman’s new contract gives Wolves boost after weeks of chaos

Exclusive: The Wolverhampton Wanderers captain has committed his future in a week that saw Julen Lopetegui resign in frustration

Wolves captain Max Kilman is signing a new bumper contract in a sorely needed boost for the club after a chaotic week.

Kilman has agreed terms on a five-year deal and will remain at Molineux, in a development which will provide huge encouragement for new head coach Gary O’Neil.

Wolves have already raised £90 million in player sales this summer, with the departures of key players including Ruben Neves and Conor Coady, while Julen Lopetegui has walked out in frustration over the club’s financial situation.

Wolves said that the club and Lopetegui had “acknowledged and accepted their differences of opinion on certain issues and agreed that an amicable end to his contract was the best solution for all parties.”
