Matheus Nunes warned about Wolves return after striking to get Man City move

Matheus Nunes left Wolves for Manchester City in a £53million move this summer after a somewhat underwhelming single season at Molineux, where he can expect a hostile atmosphere on his return

Gary O’Neil thinks old boy Matheus Nunes could face the wrath of Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Wolves ‘ boss may have paid tribute to a talent for which Manchester City paid £53m this summer, saying he had no ill-feelings towards the player. But he doesn’t believe the crowd home will have forgiven and forgotten after the player went on strike to force through his move to the Etihad.

He said: “Matheus is a talented player, isn’t he? He moved for that amount of money to the best side in the world. It shows the quality he has. It wasn’t part of the plan to lose him.

“I expected to have him here. We expected him to be a big part of that. And we were working hard on it.When Manchester City came calling, with the figures they’re talking about, we ended up where we did. Some players are tempted to act in that way, it’s not just Matheus. I don’t feel it helps, they’re being advised that maybe it does.”
