Maren Morris announces she’s ‘leaving country music’ as the genre ‘burns itself down’

Country music star Maren Morris, who is best-known for her hit I Could Use A Love Song, has announced that she is ‘leaving country music’ as the genre ‘burns itself down’

Maren Morris has left her fans gutted and excited all at once after she announced that she is leaving country music behind as she steps away from the “drama” and moves into a new era and genre.

The hitmaker, 33, who shot to fame in 2015 after she self-released five songs on on Spotify, was signed to Columbia Nashville in September of the same year. Her hit My Church was the lead single, and the EP charted at number 22 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. She then released her first album Hero in 2016, her second titled Girl in 2019, and her third titled Humble Quest in 2022.

But now Maren has decided to leave country music behind. Releasing two new tracks as part of a new EP titled The Bridge, Maren unveiled The Tree and Get the Hell Out of Here to signify her moving away from her country roots and into a different genre and era. Working with Greg Kurstin and Jack Antonoff, Maren also revealed her plans to work more with Jack, who is known for working with Taylor Swift and shaping her musical stance, in the future.
