Manufacturers demand clarity on 2026 oil boiler ban

Rishi Sunak faces growing calls for plans to be watered down or scrapped altogether

A leading boiler manufacturer has demanded the Government provides a clear timeframe for its proposed ban on new oil boilers, amid growing pressure to cancel it altogether.

New oil boilers will be banned in off-grid homes in 2026, with households encouraged to switch to heat pumps under government proposals.

Around 1.7 million, largely rural, households would be affected if the ban goes ahead.

But Rishi Sunak is facing growing calls from Tory MPs for the plans, which are under consultation, to be significantly watered down or scrapped altogether.
