Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is locked in a takeover battle with INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe after the Glazer family put Manchester United up for sale last November
Manchester United’s never-ending takeover saga continues to rumble on, yet it’s hoped a breakthrough is just around the corner.
The Glazers put United up for sale last November but are yet to name a preferred bidder. Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is the favourite to win the battle, but INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe isn’t giving up without a fight.
Ratcliffe said earlier this week: “We would still very much like to do it. And we would be doing it for the right reasons.”
In terms of transfers, United have announced the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea. Erik ten Hag still needs to make a decision on David de Gea’s future, with the goalkeeper now out of contract. Talks are ongoing between the player and the club.
