Man Utd star Antony’s arrival spotted ahead of Palace clash as return plan set

Antony has been pictured arriving at Manchester United’s Carrington training base as he prepares to return to action after a spell out of the spotlight. The Brazilian winger could be back in contention as early as Tuesday while he supports a police investigation into abuse allegations made against him. Antony strongly denies all claims of wrongdoing and returned to Manchester earlier this week to address allegations made by former partner Gabriela Cavallin. The 23-year-old voluntarily agreed to meet with Greater Manchester Police upon his return to the country, and he spent five hours at a police station on Thursday for questioning. The Manchester Evening News have published images of Antony arriving at Carrington for the first time since before the September international break in a major boost for Erik ten Hag. He looks set to train on Saturday while his teammates face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, aiming to secure a third consecutive win to leave behind a tumultuous start to the season. Antony could be an option for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray in M16, where Ten Hag’s side will vie to bounce back from their opening 4-3 Group A defeat at Bayern Munich. Ahead of the Palace fixture, Ten Hag claimed he believed Antony was fit despite missing four games since the 3-1 loss at Arsenal on September 3. Antony has returned to Man Utd. But he remained in Brazil after dropping out of international duty as he addressed allegations, subsequently missing outings against Brighton, Bayern, Burnley and Palace. On Friday, United confirmed Antony’s return to contention with a club statement. It read: “Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has cooperated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so. Antony has missed four Man Utd games.
