Man Utd show no emotion after David de Gea exit with ruthless website alteration

Manchester United ruthlessly pulled down David De Gea’s profile from their club website just hours after the long-serving goalkeeper’s departure was made official. The Red Devils also shared a non-emotive statement after De Gea had confirmed his exit.  De Gea revealed he was leaving Old Trafford after 12 years as the club’s No 1 goalkeeper. Several high-profile mistakes last season have prompted Erik ten Hag to conclude that he needed to find a replacement.  The 32-year-old posted an emotional statement on social media to bid farewell to the club’s fans. He insisted Manchester will ‘always be in my heart’.  But De Gea was not quite afforded the same emotion from his former club. A brief statement was followed by the taking down of his profile on the squad list.  David De Gea confirmed his Man Utd exit on Saturday (Image: Getty) De Gea’s profile was removed within hours of his tweet confirming his departure. The accompanying statement reported the news, listed De Gea’s achievements and then included brief statements from Ten Hag and director of football John Murtough.  United did then publish an opinion piece on De Gea’s impact at the club, but there was not quite the same sentiment that the Spaniard showed himself. Writing on his social media channels, he said: ‘I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters.’ De Gea continued: ‘I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.  ‘I took incredible pride everytime I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers.
