Man Utd scrambling to wrap up five exits as new Amrabat ‘hijack threat’ emerges

Manchester United could face a desperate scramble to offload some of their fringe players as Juventus consider joining the race to sign Sofyan Amrabat this summer. The Fiorentina star is the next top target on Erik ten Hag’s shortlist after the Dutchman managed to capture Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, but reports in Italy suggest they could face competition from Italy as well as Saudi Arabia in wrapping up a deal for the midfielder. The 26-year-old has been on United’s radar since starring at the World Cup with Morocco and he is expected to leave Fiorentina this summer, with his contract due to expire in only 10 months’ time. La Viola have indicated they are open to discussing his departure if their £40m asking price is met, although it is expected he will be allowed to leave for a lower fee. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are long-term admirers of Amrabat and are ready to move after talks between United and Fiorentina ‘stalled’. The report claims Bianconeri are targeting a midfielder having missed out on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Franck Kessie. And they see Amrabat as a low-cost option, with director Cristian Giuntoli keen to open talks as Max Allegri has approved moving for the Moroccan. Ten Hag knows the club need to offload players before they can bring in any more new faces, and the timeframe in forcing them out the door has now been reduced if he wants to avoid missing out on Amrabat. Donny van de Beek could be one of those to make way after falling down the pecking order at the club, while Fred looks set to leave in search of regular first-team football. Talks are ongoing with La Liga outfit Real Sociedad over a permanent deal for Van de Beek, and  Fred may join Galatasaray after Fulham cooled their interest from earlier in the window. United could also raise part of Amrabat’s fee by selling Dean Henderson as negotiations continue with Nottingham Forest for the England international. Henderson is still expected to join Forest, where he spent last season on loan, despite the club’s impending £10m move for Matt Turner. Erik ten Hag: The Man Utd boss is keen to sign Amrabat.
