Manchester United stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions after comprehensively dispatching Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League in midweek.
Erik ten Hag picked a strong team in a bid to down the Moldovan champions; including Cristiano Ronaldo, who was welcomed back into the fold after sitting out the previous match with Chelsea as punishment for storming off during the win over Tottenham last week.
The Portuguese veteran made a goalscoring return against Sheriff, with Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford also on target in the 3-0 win. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Ronaldo’s third goal off the season will be enough to help him retain his place in the team for Sunday’s showdown with West Ham at Old Trafford.
