Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand claims David de Gea will be missed by his old club and says he would never have left in any other era. However, he can understand why Erik ten Hag has brought in Andre Onana to replace the Spaniard. De Gea left United at the end of last season following the expiry of his contract. He had agreed upon a new deal but the Red Devils then changed the terms and a new resolution was not sought. It brought to an end a 12-year spell at Old Trafford for De Gea, in which he made 545 appearances in all competitions. He is yet to find a new club but has recently been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. United have brought in Onana for £47m to become their new No 1. The former Cameroon international is known for being comfortable playing out from the back, a weakness often levelled at De Gea.
