Sancho was livid following United's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal when Ten Hag claimed the winger's non-selection in the matchday squad was a result of his less-than-impressive performances in training. The former Borussia Dortmund star took umbrage with that accusation and posted a lengthy riposte on social media platform X – formerly known as Twitter – and accused Ten Hag of making him a 'scapegoat'. The pair were believed to have held clear-the-air talks at Carrington on Monday, with Sancho even deleting his message the next day, but that did little to ease the tensions. Football director John Murtough and CEO Richard Arnold have both been brought into the dispute to try and de-escalate the situation, but it appears Sancho could be training by himself for a while. According to The Athletic, Sancho was asked to apologise to Ten Hag in an effort to build bridges and begin mending their relationship, but he has refused to do so.
