Young shot-stopper Nathan Bishop caused fury on the Wrexham bench when his misjudged challenge left the League Two side’s star striker injured during their pre-season friendly on Tuesday night
Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has apologised to Wrexham star Paul Mullin after sparking fury during the two clubs’ pre-season friendly in San Diego.
Wrexham striker Mullin suffered a punctured lung in the 12th minute after he was taken out by Bishop in a sickening collision during the Welsh side’s 3-1 win.
Mullin received oxygen and six minutes of treatment from medics, and was unable to play any further part in the game, which also saw United skipper Dan Gore sent off in the second-half.
Bishop has since taken to social media to apologise, stating: “Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies. A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with 0 malicious intent at all! Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible!”
