Man Utd dealt further Mason Mount injury blow as star handed lifeline

Man Utd news: Mason Mount could miss six weeks due to injury (Image: GETTY) Mason Mount could reportedly be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury. Manchester United initially expected the midfielder to return after the international break but he could now miss eight matches to hand Scott McTominay a lifeline. Mount was substituted late on in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham. The £60million star has had a subdued start to his career at Old Trafford. But he will now have to wait to improve upon his first two underwhelming performances. Initial reports claimed that Mount would only miss United’s next two games with a minor hamstring problem. Erik ten Hag’s side face Nottingham Forest at home this Saturday before a trip to Arsenal the following Sunday. However, the issue is now worse than first feared. The Telegraph claims Mount will miss at least four weeks of action. That will also rule him out of the home game against Brighton after the international break on September 16, as well as the first Champions League group stage match. However, there is a chance Mount will not fully recover for six weeks. That would mean he could sit out of another four games. United face Burnley and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, before a Carabao Cup third-round tie and the second match in the Champions League.
