Man Utd boss Ten Hag ‘wants second forward’ as well as Hojlund transfer

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wants the club to sign two forwards this summer amid his interest in Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports. The Red Devils have already made Mason Mount their first signing of the transfer window. And more reinforcements are expected to follow as the club look to win a first Premier League title since 2013 next season. Manchester United know they need a new No 9 this summer, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wout Weghorst gone and Anthony Martial infuriatingly inconsistent. And the Manchester Evening News say Ten Hag actually wants to bring two forwards to the club. It’s said he wants an out-and-out striker, with Hojlund his No 1 target. Few had heard of the 20-year-old 12 months ago when he moved to Serie A side Atalanta from Sturm Graz. But after scoring nine goals during his maiden season in Italy, Hojlund is now considered one of world football’s most-promising young strikers. Regarding Hojlund, meanwhile, United legend Nicky Butt believes a deal for the Denmark international would represent a gamble. ‘He’s a good young player,” Butt told Sky Sports. “The recruitment team at Man Utd are obviously looking all over the world for these kinds of players because they are hard to find. ‘Harry Kane has been mentioned for so many years in a row but that seems to have been pushed to the side. ‘Whoever they buy has to fit into the squad, age-wise they have to be the right age to get some value on them when they leave the football club. ‘You can’t keep buying players for big money and having no return. “He seems like the right fit, but it’s a gamble when you buy someone from a different league. ‘He’s never played in our league and you don’t know what it’s going to be like when he comes here. “But you can only rely on recruitment. You’re ultimately as good as your recruitment team so we’ll see how that pans out.”
