Man Utd news: Erik ten Hag has been warned by Mike Phelan (Image: GETTY) Manchester United could be just one or two games away from a “crisis”, according to former Red Devils coach Mike Phelan. Erik ten Hag ‘s side lost last time out against Arsenal and have a tricky couple of fixtures ahead of them. United have already lost two Premier League games, just four matches into the new season. Both trips to north London ended in defeats as Tottenham and Arsenal enjoyed wins by two-goal margins. United therefore sit 11th in the table, having won their two home matches against Wolves and Nottingham Forest. Both of those victories were less than convincing though, as Wolves were denied a clear late penalty at 1-0 while Forest led 2-0 just four minutes into their visit to Old Trafford. Ten Hag has been a popular appointment with United fans and he ended their six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup last season. Phelan, whose most recent spell at the club was as assistant to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer , admits the Dutchman has made a positive difference. In-form Brighton visit the Red Devils in the Premier League on Saturday before United make the daunting trip to Bayern Munich in the Champions League the following Wednesday. Phelan told Sky Sports : “[Ten Hag] and his coaching staff have made a difference, from what was left. They are changing a lot of things and changing them quickly. “There is a definite difference in standards, you can see that. There has been great success, or relatively great success in one year and I’m sure he wants to push on. It’s been a little bit up and down at the start of the season but that happens. I think they can progress and make bigger strides.
