Manchester United are hopeful of giving Erik ten Hag the forward that he desperately needs before the start of the new season.
Talks are ongoing with Atalanta over United’s top target, Rasmus Hojlund. The Italian side want £86 million for the Dane but United are not prepared to pay more than £60 million, and have back-up options in Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax’s versatile attacker Mohammed Kudus.
United acknowledge that, at 20 years old, Hojlund is something of a rough diamond and may need time to adapt, but in the long run they are confident that Ten Hag can turn him into a top striker.
