Gavin Best didn’t spot what he had captured at first, but when he zoomed in he couldn’t believe what he managed to catch
Capturing the perfect photo is a tricky business. You need to get the angle, the lighting and everything else just right to get the money shot. It can take photographers, professional and amateur, a long time.
But sometimes – very rarely – you can get the perfect shot first time. And for Gavin Best, he managed to do all this without even realising he was doing it. The 43-year-old was walking with his friends in Belfast on New Year’s Eve when he decided to stop and take a photo.
He said: “When I looked at the photos afterwards on my mobile I didn’t spot anything; it was only a few days later when I was looking through the photos on my laptop that I noticed something over there, so I zoomed in.” Gavin managed to capture the moment someone jumped in the air, presumably for another photograph.
He said: “I thought it was a hell of a coincidence that I’d happened to capture that exact moment – I hadn’t even realised there was anyone over there when I took the picture. By pure chance the timing was perfect and it created a funny shot. It would be pretty mad if you managed to find them.”
